Clovis has over 25 years experience working in the aviation and shipping industries. He started out as a litigator representing debtors in the bankruptcy court before finding relative calm representing marine casualty insurers and ship builders in the admiralty division of the High Court.  This led to a spell practising in London before finding himself in Tokyo in late 1998 representing P&I Clubs with ship casualty settlements before joining White & Case LLP in Tokyo supporting Japanese investors and financiers do cross-border asset backed funding deals.   Upon returning to New Zealand in 2005 Clovis joined Air New Zealand where he became the Head of Funding & Fleet responsible for the commercial aspects of buying, selling, leasing and financing the airline’s fleet.  In 2016 he returned to Japan as Air New Zealand’s country head although thanks to Covid he has kept a foot in the HQ door having worked on the airline’s re-capitalisation programme.  He is looking forward to the conference and reacquainting with old friends, and making new ones.
